CHAMBA KHAJJIAR ROAD , HIMACHAL PRADESH, RISKY.. ONLY FOR EXPERT MOUNTAIN DRIVERS

Last month on 29th afternoon having enjoyed our morning session at Khajjiar we wanted to go back to Dalhousie but we're told by taxi drivers that there is traffic jam 5kms before Dalhousie. Having already wasted an afternoon a day back when we had to return to Dalhousie just 2kms short of Khajjiar as there was traffic jam we took the road to Chamba on the advise of local fast food stall owners and taxi wallah.  The road is good we were told.  A distance of 22kms did not seem much.  But once we were on to it in our taxi I'm found the road to be very narrow and risky.  Many a places there was gravel on it.  Sitting in front I'm was keeping g an eye on the driver and reminded him to horn on blind turns.

Midway after Mangla  the road has steep descent for about 3kms.  The gorge on the right side presented a steep cut.  Hardly any trees to slow down or stop a vehicle if it slips over.  And then I saw a most unusual sign

" STEEP DESCENT,  BREAK MAY FAIR
KEEP YOUR VEHICLE IN 2ND OR 3RD GEAR ".

We got to Chamba safe and sound.

In my opinion there should be very strict /scary Warning slogans on Hill Roads.

One Is have in mind is

Don't Commit the First Mistake
No Chance for the second.

In Hindi

 यहा दूसरी गलती नही होती

 सो पहली से बचो

There is no second chance here.

The DC  has warned that this road  is only  meant  for  EXPERT MORNING DRIVERS.

but they  have  not  put  signs  at  the start  of  the  road  from  either  side .

T hree  years  back  1 1  Delhi  tourists  working for   India  News  channel  lost their lives when  a Tempo  Traveller  fell into  a gorge.
